Faith House Church is Bringing Art, Shade, Comfort, and Community Together

As Los Angeles prepares to welcome the world for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Faith House Church is developing an exciting new project to bring permanent shade, public art, and comfortable seating to Venice Beach. Our proposed Venice Beach Public Shade & Resilience Project would feature approximately three to four beautifully designed shade structures, each measuring about 20–24 feet across. These unique structures would combine artistic design with practical protection from the sun, creating welcoming spaces where families, seniors, residents, and visitors can sit, relax, and enjoy the beach. With Venice Beach scheduled to host Olympic and Paralympic events, we believe this is an opportunity to make a meaningful improvement to one of Los Angeles' most recognizable public destinations. LA 2028

Our vision goes beyond traditional umbrellas and benches. We want to create beautiful, permanent works of public art that also provide relief from extreme heat. Each structure would be thoughtfully designed to complement the coastal environment while providing accessible seating and shaded gathering areas. As summer temperatures rise, public shade becomes increasingly important for protecting vulnerable residents and making outdoor spaces more comfortable. The project would bring together artists, designers, environmental professionals, community organizations, and public agencies to develop a solution that is both functional and visually inspiring.

Faith House Church is currently seeking grant funding, community partnerships, and City support to bring this vision to life. We are exploring potential locations near Venice Beach and Ocean Front Walk while working toward the necessary property approvals, engineering, and permits. Our goal is to complete the project in time to benefit visitors during the 2028 Games while creating something much more lasting: a beautiful public space that continues serving Los Angeles residents for generations to come. We believe the greatest legacy of hosting the Olympics should include improvements that make everyday life better for the people who call Los Angeles home.

Our Vision: Beautiful Public Art. Cooler Communities. A Lasting Legacy.

Project Status: Proposed initiative seeking funding, partnerships, and government approvals. Faith House Church is not currently affiliated with or endorsed by the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee.
